Meetings and Membership
The Canyon Lake Art Guild meets every second Tuesday of the month from September thru May, at 12:00 noon. The meetings are held in the GVTC Auditorium, 36101 FM 3159, New Braunfels, (Spring Branch on Yahoo Map) Texas, in Smithson Valley south of Startzville, except in November when it is held at the Bunk Haus in Hancock. (Directions) Once a month an area artist or fine craft person is asked to exhibit and/or share his or her techniques at our meetings. December, there is a Christmas Pot Luck and Benefit Auction. The past year subjects have been marketing art, watercolor, water soluble oils, oil landscapes and still life, batik, metal sculptures, and murals. Membership is $20 per person or $25 per family for one year. Please have membership in before December so your name can be placed in our directory for January. January’s Demonstrator Cathy Munson Wildlife Artist Cathy Munson is an Austin native and Honors graduate in Studio Art from the University of Texas. After graduation she worked as an illustrator for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department where she developed her own detailed watercolor technique. She is a signature member of Women Artists of the West. Cathy’s artwork has been featured on the printed materials for the National Wildlife Art Show, Ducks Unlimited, Southwestern Bell Telephone Talk, University of Texas School of Law, UT football and Texas Relays. Her work is on display at UT in the Alumni Center, the Track and Soccer Stadium, and the President’s office, and featured on the UT Ex-Students MasterCard.
